The Fine Print, Written Plainly
The headline points already live on the FAQ and Services pages. This is the fuller version underneath them: what governs a booking from enquiry to last song, and the written agreement sent with every confirmed date is this, made specific to your event.
Last updated 11 August 2026. These terms apply to all bookings of DJ Lovin (Jonothan Lovin) for weddings, engagements and milestone celebrations. Booking and paying the deposit constitutes acceptance of them.
1. Booking, Deposit & Payment
A 25% booking fee secures a date exclusively — only one event is booked per date, so once it's paid, no other enquiry for that date is accepted. The remaining 75% is due approximately two months (60 days) before the event. Payment methods and exact due dates are confirmed in writing at the time of booking.
If the balance isn't received by its due date, DJ Lovin will follow up directly to sort out a workable date. If it's still unpaid seven days after that, the booking is treated as cancelled under Section 2 below, and the date is released.
2. Cancellation by You
Because a confirmed date is held exclusively, refunds work differently depending on when a cancellation happens:
- More than 60 days before the event: the 25% booking fee is forfeited to cover the date being held and turned away from other enquiries. No further amount is owed.
- 60 days or fewer before the event: the full contracted fee remains payable. By this point the balance has fallen due and the date can no longer realistically be re-let to another booking.
Cancellations must be confirmed in writing (email, text or WhatsApp is fine) to take effect.
3. Rescheduling
Plans change, especially with weddings. Get in touch as early as possible with a new date. If DJ Lovin is available on the new date, the existing booking simply transfers across at no extra charge. If not, it's treated as a fresh booking subject to normal availability — the sooner a reschedule is raised, the more options there usually are.
4. If DJ Lovin Can't Perform
In the rare event of genuine illness, emergency or another circumstance that makes performing impossible, DJ Lovin will make a genuine best effort to arrange a suitable replacement DJ of comparable standard for the booking. If no suitable replacement can be arranged in time, every payment made is refunded in full. This is the one scenario where the cancellation terms in Section 2 don't apply to you.
5. Performance Times & Overtime
Booked hours are agreed and confirmed ahead of the event to match the actual run of the day. If the reception runs on and extra time is wanted on the night, it's charged at a pre-agreed hourly overtime rate, payable directly, subject to venue curfews and DJ Lovin's next commitment allowing it.
6. Music, Requests & Professional Discretion
A must-play and do-not-play list is worked through together before the event, and guest requests on the night are welcome within it. The planning run-through happens closer to the day, but to make sure it's properly built into the set, please have the list finalised no later than 14 days out — after that, it's still welcome, just with less time to prepare it thoroughly. Final judgement on song choice, timing and mixing in different languages across the evening rests with DJ Lovin — reading a room full of English, Tamil and Sinhalese-speaking guests properly is exactly the specialist skill being booked. Reasonable judgement is also used on explicit or inappropriate content for a mixed-generation family audience unless a couple specifically directs otherwise in writing.
7. Venue, Access & Power
The client is responsible for confirming, with the venue, that a suitable power supply, load-in access and any required permits, entertainment licences or noise restrictions are in place ahead of the event. DJ Lovin arrives with enough time to set up and sound-check before guests arrive; any unusual access restrictions (multiple flights of stairs, long carry distances, strict bump-in windows) are worth flagging in advance so setup runs smoothly.
Some inner-city and heritage venues run sound limiters that automatically cut power if a set noise level is crossed. If your venue has one, flag it when you book — DJ Lovin will work within it, but it's far better known in advance than discovered mid-reception.
Most licensed reception venues hold a current music licence (through OneMusic Australia, covering APRA and PPCA) that extends to cover engaged entertainers performing on their premises. It's worth a quick confirmation with your venue that this is in place — it almost always is at established wedding venues, but it's a five-minute check worth making rather than assuming.
8. Equipment & Damage
All equipment is professional-grade, owned and maintained by DJ Lovin, and tested ahead of every event. It's operated exclusively by DJ Lovin or an authorised assistant. Guests are welcome to enjoy the night without needing to touch the setup; any damage caused by a guest's misuse of equipment outside DJ Lovin's control may be charged back to the client at fair repair or replacement cost.
9. Photography & Promotional Use
DJ Lovin may take photos or short video during setup and the event for portfolio and promotional use (website, social media, future enquiries). If a couple would prefer this not to happen at their event, just say so in writing before the day and it's fully respected — no questions asked.
10. Force Majeure
Neither party is responsible for a failure to perform caused by something genuinely outside their control — extreme weather, natural disaster, venue closure, government restriction and similar events. For an outdoor event, if conditions turn genuinely unsafe for people or equipment, DJ Lovin reserves the right to pause or adjust the setup for everyone's safety; this is a safety call, not a way out of the booking, and every reasonable effort is made to keep the event running.
11. Limitation of Liability
DJ Lovin's total liability for any claim relating to a booking is limited to the total fees paid for that booking. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any guarantee, right or remedy that can't lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
12. Privacy
Details shared when enquiring or booking (name, contact details, event information) are used only to plan and deliver that booking. They're never sold or shared with third parties. The contact form on this site sends straight to Jono's own email; nothing is stored on a server or database.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
14. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be updated from time to time as the business evolves. The version current at the time a booking fee is paid is the version that applies to that booking.
15. Questions
None of this is meant to be intimidating — it's here so everyone knows where they stand. Anything unclear, ask directly before booking: lovin.jono@gmail.com, 0490 054 400, or WhatsApp.
